Creating Fashion - Sharing Stories

2016 Spring/ Summer Collection

inspired by the healing journeys of three adult survivors of child sexual trauma

To bring awareness and celebrate the healing journeys of each of these women

Through interviewing and listening to their stories, we were specifically inspired by the emotions they felt following their trauma, how it has since impacted their lives, and where they currently are at in their journeys.

Edges Apparel presented their 2016 Summer Collection in their advocacy fashion show, “Fashion For The Fire,” on Saturday April 9th, 2016  in REO Town Lansing. The event raised awareness and funds for The Firecracker Foundation in support of the holistic healing services provided to child survivors of sexual trauma and their families in the tricounty area.

The event included a live runway show, firsthand accounts detailing the implications of sexual trauma, and keynote speaker, Tashmica Torok, The Firecracker Foundation founder and executive director. It was a dynamic show with both conceptual and ready to wear fashion that engage the audience in a conversation about sexual trauma and it’s impact on victims.

Portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales and designs sold from the collection, was donated to the work of the foundation’s mission in our community. Learn more about the organization here: http://thefirecrackerfoundation.org
