Creating Fashion - Sharing Stories

2016 Spring/ Summer Collection

inspired by the healing journeys of three adult survivors of child sexual trauma

Edges Apparel is presenting their 2016 Summer Collection in their advocacy fashion show, “Fashion For The Fire,” on Saturday April 9th at The Robin Theater in REO Town Lansing. The event is to raise awareness and funds for The Firecracker Foundation in support of the holistic healing services provided to child survivors of sexual trauma and their families in the tricounty area.

The event will include a live runway show, firsthand accounts detailing the implications of sexual trauma, and keynote speaker, Tashmica Torok, The Firecracker Foundation founder and executive director. It will be a dynamic show with both conceptual and ready to wear fashion all meant to engage the audience in a conversation about sexual trauma and it’s impact on victims.

Portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales and designs sold from the collection, will be donated to the work of the foundation’s mission in our community.

Our purpose in this, is to bring further awareness to this issue while celebrating each of these women.

Through interviewing and listening to each of these women’s story, we were specifically inspired by the emotions they felt following their trauma, how it has since impacted their lives, and where they currently are at in their journeys. Designer Katie Raynard, visually translated these aspects of each woman’s journey into the conceptual and ready to wear looks.
